Birth Photography | Stefas Squishies

“Miracles sometimes comes in pairs” – Unknow

In life it’s more often than not required of us to wait for that perfect timing. A lesson that sure is one of the hardest things to accept. It is also one of the most beautiful moments at a birth, when at last it all falls into place.

The Steffas twins were born from waiting, praying, trying and some more waiting, trying and praying.

Mom Angelique recall’s the process, the lessons and the great joy that came with the birth of her Squishies.

“Everything happens for a reason… this has become our mantra throughout our marriage.

This year marks our 11 year journey together as a couple, our very own fairy tale. I won’t pretend that everything has been picture perfect, there have been some very tough days, filled with heartache and frustration, but in the end everything always turned out better than we could have imagined.

We had always had our hearts set on a honeymoon baby. We wanted to get our family started ASAP and live out this epic story about our lives, but clearly the Big Man upstairs knew that there would be some challenges that we would need to face first.

2012 was a big year for us, we just moved into the first home that we owned (all ours, HOORAY!), I started a new job and we became parents to the most adorable fur babies, all this in the space of 4 months. Five months later we got married and started our lives as husband and wife, then we were off to our amazing 5 week honeymoon and were convinced that this would be when we would start our journey as parents as well… but nothing happened.

We got back home and kept trying, determined to make this happen.

Fast forward a year and a bit, still not pregnant, we made the decision to put our home up for sale, and take on the gruelling task of building our dream home in a wonderful estate, knowing in our hearts that this is it.. this is where we would start and raise a family.

Well…let me tell you one thing, if you have this dream of what it would be like to watch your home evolve from a piece of land to this magnificent structure… here’s your wake up call 😊
It can be a long, tiring process; filled with delays and arguments and frustration. Definitely not a recipe for the romantic, stress free situation you would normally be in when trying to start a family.

Finally October 2016, after 22 of the most stressful and painful months we could possibly imagine, our home was finally finished and we could move in and start enjoying our lives, just in time for a Christmas lunch with the family. The best Christmas present we could have given ourselves…or so we thought.

A few weeks later we found ourselves in the doctors rooms awaiting the results of our blood tests.

Were we really finally pregnant? Or did the house ordeal affect me so bad that I’ve just stopped my period and gotten my body super confused?

“You’re pregnant”… words I had to ask the sister to repeat at least twice as I burst into tears of pure elation… it’s really happening, our fairy tale is finally taking place. We were so overjoyed, everything was falling into place!

You would think the story ends there, but there were more surprises in store for us. It appears that my husband and I had been praying for one thing that we hadn’t discussed with each other, but knew that we really wanted, two peas in a pod…

A few weeks later, we were 8 weeks pregnant and finally got to go for our first scan and…ITS TWINS! The best news we could have ever asked for.

We waited and prayed for so long and now we hear that we are going to be parents to two beautiful little souls.

The connection you feel from that first look at them is unreal, it should be impossible to feel so much love for someone that you haven’t met, for someone that hasn’t even developed arms and legs yet… two tiny little squishy blobs, waiting to grow and be part of this beautiful, crazy world. I knew from the first day I saw them that they would be my little prince and princess , our little squishies…mommy and daddy’s world ❤️

(Here is the birth of the Squishy Twins 😉 )

Reflecting on all the obstacles and challenges, we realized more than ever, that everything happens for a reason and it happens when the time is right. You might feel that you know what you need and when you need it, and the wait may break your heart. But there is someone that knows you a lot better than you do, and He will always do what is right for you. We have been blessed countless times and are now parents to the most precious pigeon pair (with the loudest personalities two little 6 month olds’ could have).”

Waiting on or for something is not really a thing we humans excel in. It is however definitely a thing that aids in creating the magic of purpose.

Birth | Vosloo Twins
“ Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made and forgot to put a soul into. – Henry Ward Beecher
Meet two little flowers that God did not forget to add beautiful souls to! Louisa and Fleur Volsoo!

As many births go this was a little “unplanned” welcoming of the girls at only 36 weeks (see their maternity session HERE only 2 days earlier), but the smaller one of the two had a little trouble. (I think her sister ate all her food 😉 )   As we discussed some admin the night before the birth, one of the questions was if they have decided which little girl is going to be named Fleur and which Louisa. The first born will be Louisa, it should be the smaller one and the second one will be named Fleur. (Because of the girls positioning they could make an educated guess which will be born first) It’s exactly how it happened, little Lulu were born screaming, strong and fierce. “Renowned worrier” that’s the meaning of this little fighters name. Perfect don’t you think? Fleur was born a little quieter, more delicate, exactly as her name describes a “flower”. Louisa gets her name from her Great Grand Mother Louisa or Lulu and Fleur is a beautiful name that both Anecia and Gerhard liked. Only later did they discover that both these names have a connection to flower. Identical twins with the same name!

What are the odds of these girls given these names purely by chance, I think not! It makes me think of Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” as well as Isaiah 43:1 “…I have called you by name, you are mine”

Be blessed little flowers! I look forward to witness how you grow and bloom into the persons you were born to be!
”Twice as much to love, two blessings from above.” – Unknown
It’s a personal blog, again, because their family 🙂 Meet the Britz twins, Gerhard & HJ and their beautiful big sister Skyra. If you missed the twins birth I posted last week, you can have a look here.

These are the gorgeous kids of my baby brother and sister in-law, which by the way, got married exactly 2 years ago today. And yes, I did those pictures as well 😉 Here is a link to their wedding pictures.

Twice as much to love …. , these two will never not know love. Their parents adore them, big sister is still a little sceptical but I’m sure she will get there, not to mention their grandparents, aunts, uncle and all the little cousins are totally in love with them.

Twice as much love, laughter, giggles, hope, blessings, prayers and all things good from above! That’s my wish for these little boys. May you always know our Lord, your Creator. May you always know that you are family and that we stick together. May you always know love. May you always know laughter and happiness and may you always be blessed!

And yes may you be twice as naughty just to get back at my baby brother!

Love you to the moon and back. All of you!

Pikkie (If you missed it, yes that is my family nickname 😉 )
”God touched our hearts so deep inside, our special blessing multiplied ~Author Unknown
Indeed did He touch our hearts and bless us with our twins. Yes I call them “our” because this is the birth story of my baby brother’s twins. As all babies in our family, they are born to the family 🙂 Very rarely are they just born to their parents 😉 Making us one huge family with tons of kids to try and raise, but I like it that way.

To me all births are magical and special, but to be present at one of your own,  just adds another dimension to the incredible story of birth. These 2 were a little eager, born at 35 weeks but they were both a good weight at 2.36 and 2.39 kg’s. They initially struggled to breath and was taken to ICU immediately after birth, but true to their fighting spirits they only spend a couple of days there.

You can view a copy of their birth slide show here

We are truly blessed to have these twins and thank God everyday for the path he has chosen for our family to walk.

Love you all to much!!!!

Pikkie (LOL! yes that is my family nickname 🙂 )

Newborn | Twins Sophia & Gerhard
”From the fullness of His grace, we all received one blessing after another” – John 1:16
One baby is a miracle, but 2 is just a very special gift from God.

Meet little Sophia and her brother Gerhard. Sophia is the inquisitive one and very interested in everything I do. Gerhard on the other hand is totally relaxed, just chilling with his hand behind his head in most of the pictures 🙂

Natasha, I just have to share how powerful and generous our Creator is. These two were send from God with a special plan.
Natasha had a ectopic pregnancy (that’s when the baby grows inside the fallopian tube) and in the process lost one of her overies. This making it very difficult but not impossible to conceive.  Trying for a while and nothing happening the next step was a fertility specialist. On the day of the appointment with the specialist Natasha hopped into the pharmacy and for some unknown reason bought a pregnancy test.
And you guessed it. Positive! A few weeks later they heard 2 heart beats!
No fertility treatment, no doctors and no twins in either families! Just the grace of God!

Natasha and Gerhard, enjoy your miracles. May you both and they always no the grace and love of God in this exciting journey called parenthood.
