I first met with M&M on our birth consultation in October last year and what struck me most about them were how they were totally at easy with what ever way this birth may go. They had a birth plan but it could change, they had a due date, but that could change, they had a doctor, but that could change, they had a name picked out, but that couldn’t change. Aaren Eckahart vd Merwe. Aaren meaning “mountain of strength” and Echart “edge of a sword” “brave”.

It was planned to be a natural delivery but had to be induced ’cause this young man was much to comfortable in his own little world. During labour the plan change and we were prepped for a C-Section delivery. M&M were totally calm and at easy with it. Marika made it look so easy and Martin was a pillar of strength until we had to go into theatre, then you could see some nerves settling in, but before we new little Aaren was born. My words are few when I think of this birth but as I look at these images I realised, I have already said enough, these images tell the story of the birth of Aaren much better than I ever could!

M&M congratulations with your son! With parents like the two of you and strong names like the ones you have given him, I am quite confinced that he will have no problem getting to his dreams.

It was incredible to whisper courage into your ears and see you take leaps moments later towards our freedom. You had many holes in your body, but I tried to hold your hand through this time and be there as much as possible, so that you wouldn’t go through it alone. Some holes in your body, some in mine. Daddy and I took turns to cover the day shift as well as the night shift.
